“Visionary behind modern Tripura”: CM pays tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram on his 115th birth anniversary – World News Network

Agartala (Tripura) [India], August 20 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday paid his tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma on his 115th birth anniversary and said that he will forever be remembered as a visionary of modern Tripura.
Saha further emphasized the importance of acquainting the people of the state with Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya’s accomplishments.
“The current Bharatiya Janata Party-led government understands the significance of acknowledging the Maharajas’ contributions to the state. This administration has successfully restored their honour and has undertaken initiatives to raise public awareness about them. In contrast, the previous government consistently claimed that the Maharaja did not contribute to the state,” the Chief Minister said.
Tripura CM also said that Bir Bikram Manikya had envisioned the beautification of Agartala city in particular.
“Maharaja Bir Bikram will forever be remembered as the visionary behind modern Tripura. He had envisioned the beautification of Agartala city in particular. Unfortunately, his untimely demise prevented him from fully realizing that dream. To commemorate Maharaja’s birthday on August 19th, various government and private programs have been organized throughout the state. Since the establishment of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the state, Maharaja’s birthday has been celebrated with grand ceremonies. The government has also declared a public holiday to observe this day,” Saha expressed.
“It’s crucial for everyone to understand his significant contributions to Tripura,” he added.
Maharaj Bir Bikram Kishore was the king of Tripura and is considered the father of modern architecture in Tripura.
Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, born on August 19, 1908, was a visionary ruler who played a pivotal role in shaping the modern identity of the Tripura Kingdom.
He ascended the throne at a young age after the demise of his father, Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya, in 1923.
He said that the vision of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma will continue to inspire everyone in terms of the state’s development and said that the present BJP-led government understands the importance of honouring the contributions of the Maharajas of the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also remembered Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur on his birth anniversary.
“Remembering Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur on his birth anniversary. His vision and leadership continue to inspire generations. He was a stalwart who worked tirelessly for the socio-economic progress of Tripura,” PM Modi said in a post on X (formerly called Twitter). (ANI)
